BMW 1 Series Sedan- Production Begins in China

The BMW 1 Series Sedan had its world premiere at the 2016 Guangzhou Auto Show last month, now the Brilliance-BMW joint venture has officially commenced its production. Life-off ceremony was held on 12th December 2016.

The BMW 1 Series Sedan is based on the UKL front-wheel drive platform. It measures 4,456 mm in length, 1,803 mm in width and 1,446 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,670 mm. there will be 3 trims available: 118i, 120i and 125i. The 118i model will be the base option powered by a 1.5-litre TwinPower Turbo three-cylinder petrol engine that will be linked to a 6-speed manual transmission. The 120i and 125i models will pack a 2.0-litre TwinPower four-cylinder petrol engine in different outputs. The bigger engine will be paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission.

LED headlights, 18-inch alloy wheels, L-shaped LED tail lights, dual exhaust pipes, sunroof, full colour head-up display, three-spoke multi-function steering wheel, electric brake and an 8.8-inch LED display for the infotainment system are some of the salient features of the BMW 1 Series Sedan which will go on sale exclusively in China by early 2017. Availability in other markets is yet to be announced.
