One can see a huge improvement in vehicle design compared to what FAW currently produces. VW influence is quite obvious in the styling and why not, FAW does have a joint venture with Volkswagen in China. Apparently the CX65, which is the first wagon in FAW lineup is heavily inspired from the VW Cross Lavida Wagon which is made by Volkswagen’s other joint venture in China, the Shanghai VW.

Both the vehicles sit on the same platform and will carry same engines as well. There will be a 1.5 liter 122hp naturally aspirated engine mated to a 6-speed manual transmission, and a 1.0 liter 119hp Turbocharged unit with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual clutch transmission (DCT).

Both A50 sedan and CX65 wagon share the same interior that comes notably with a multi-function steering wheel and a 9 inch touch screen with a multimedia entertainment audio and video system, including features such as voice control, infotainment, smart navigation and driving assistance.

The vehicles will officially be launched and priced in Chinese car market by the first quarter of 2018 with an estimated price tag ranging between 60,000 to 80,000 yuan (PKR 9.0 lac to PKR 12.0 lac)

Unlike the previous FAW sedans (B30, A70) that mostly came with 1.6 liter engines, the new breed of cars will now come equipped with the smaller 1.5L and 1.0T engines targeted towards domestic as well as export markets. Whether these new vehicles with smaller engine displacements will reach our country is yet unknown at this stage but FAW does have plans to extensively market these cars in emerging markets.
