2020 Toyota Fortuner Facelift Debuts in Thailand

The 2020 Toyota Fortuner facelift has just made its debut in Thailand. The refreshed mid-size SUV has been revealed in two design variants– standard and the new flagship Fortuner Legender.

The standard Toyota Fortuner facelift features revised LED projector headlamps, a redesigned upper grille with new mesh pattern that is much bigger than the out-gone model, different front fog lamp housing and revised front bumper. It has comparatively smaller, 18-inch alloy wheels and misses out the LED sequential turn indicators.

The new flagship Toyota Fortuner Legender has a much bolder exterior design featuring a revised fascia with sharper, dual projector LED headlamps, LED sequential turn indicators in the bottom, sleeker upper grille and much bigger lower grille both with new pattern finished in black & a sportier bumper with skid plate.

Towards the sides, the 2020 Toyota Fortuner Legender gets 20-inch alloy wheels with a dual-tone finish. At the back, the Fortuner Legend features tweaked LED tail lamps with LED sequential turn indicators, a new bumper with L-shaped outer ends and a glossy black roof spoiler. The Legender version comes with black roof & black pillars as standard.

The 2020 Toyota Fortuner facelift standard and Fortuner Legender both have similar interior design. However there is new Optitron meter with a 4.2-inch MID display & two-tone leather seats, whereas the Legender gets two extra USB ports at the back of the front armrest, JBL sound system, 360-degree panoramic view monitor, power tailgate, ambient lighting, wireless charger and a 9.0-inch touchscreen head unit which omits the physical knobs and buttons of the regular 8.0-inch unit.

As for safety, the new Toyota Fortuner Legender comes with Toyota Safety Sense active safety features (Pre-Collision System, Lane Departure Alert and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control) in addition to the standard safety equipment.

The Fortuner Legender comes available with two GD engines, the 2.4L and the 2.8L which gets 27 hp and 50 Nm increase in power resulting in 204 hp and 500 Nm of torque. The 1GD-FTV benefits from an added balance shaft for better NVH performance. Idling speed has been reduced from 850 rpm to 680 rpm. Additional measures including improved cooling have enabled fuel consumption to be reduced by up to 17%. The Fortuner Legender also gets drive mode buttons just behind the gear lever. One can choose from Eco, Normal and Sport modes, which manipulate throttle response and steering weight.
