Hyundai-Nishat All Set to Launch Elantra and Sonata Sedans in Pakistan

Hyundai-Nishat is all set to introduce two more products in Pakistani market– the Elantra and Sonata sedans according to a recent report by SAMAA.

Hyundai Elantra which was also showcased at PAPS 2020 earlier this year is an out-gone 6th generation model and will be introduced as a locally assembled product. It will compete against the likes of Toyota Corolla and Honda Civic. Hyundai Sonata which was also displayed at PAPS 2020 will be the latest 8th generation model that will be introduced as CBU and will go against the likes of Toyota Camry and Honda Accord upon its arrival.

According to information the local production of Hyundai Elantra sedan has already kicked off and the vehicle will go on sale likely towards the beginning of 2021. The Elantra displayed at PAPS 2020 had a 1.6 liter engine under its hood good for 126 hp of power and 154 Nm of torque, paired to a 6-speed automatic gearbox. However the vehicle came in a number of powertrain options in international markets including 1.4L & 2.0L engines with 6-speed manual & 7-DCT gearbox options in addition to the aforementioned one.

Although the vehicle comes available in various powertrain configurations in other markets, but the availability cannot be confirmed for our market at this stage.

Hyundai Nishat Motors which was awarded Greenfield status in the Auto Policy 2016-21, is a joint venture of Nishat Group, Sojitz Corporation (Japan) and Millat Tractors Ltd. At its plant in Faisalabad, the company has a capacity to roll out 15,000 vehicles annually, which can be extended depending on the demand. So far, Hyundai has established 14 dealerships across the country, with reportedly 6 more in the pipeline.

The company is witnessing an encouraging demand for its Tucson SUV which has sold 819 within 4 months of its launch. The Porter commercial pickup is also picking up sales with 434 units under its belt during the first 5 months of this fiscal year. The company hopes to see an equally good response with the introduction of Elantra and Sonata since the vehicles will be offering features which are missing in the existing options available in the market.
