The other reason that the government supports the auto sector in India is because it is a big source of foreign income for the nation. many cars such as the Nissan march/micra, the Suzuki baleno, dezire and various others are exported to other nations; along with lots of parts exports.

In Pakistan these same jap companies have isolated and locked the auto sector. not only that but they have also stopped the government from properly helping the vendor sector to grow. just look at each time the head of PAMA has said that the vendor sector has enough help even thought they have been screaming for help.

So the auto sector in Pakistan is nothing but a leach/parasite. what ever the government pours into the auto sector is wasted. it only increases the import bill. Right now it is doing all it can just to pay the auto sector’s over inflated bills. Ironically the used car imports were much cheaper than these new car CKD imports. Local assemblers are bringing nothing of value to the nation and are only a burden on the economy to be very honest. They have even locked in the local vendors. The local vendors should have been scrambling to at least get to make parts for the new auto brands in Pakistan. so far not a peep. international export tu duur ki baat.

You are right. The auto mafia/cartel is here to do business. Due to the policies being weak and the policy makers easily bought, they are having a field day. They are leaching all they can from the nation. Doing the right thing be damned!

Across the border, things are different. Let them make a wrong move or drop quality or do a sudden unexplained price hike. the government will come down on them like a ton of bricks. That is what we need here.

The auto assemblers here have all the help they can get. They have us. they can just increase the prices blaming it on what ever they want because they know there will be no government investigation or explanation required because the government cannot make a move in the auto sector without their blessing. Look at how many “investigation committees” have come and gone. 🤦‍♂️ They don’t need the government handouts. We are all they need. We are more than willing to throw everything at them. 🙋‍♂️

Don’t blame auto mafia, they are here only for business. Look at Indian economy, their state bank is ready to pour 100 billion usd to deal with currency devaluation crises while our government is beginning for around 1 billion usd from IMF to avoid Sri Lanka like situation. Literally No potential here to put country on sustainable and proressive track. also one thing i dont understand is that people rant about economy & currency difference & blah blah. but if they are getting a latest car in 5.7 lacs then ideally we should get it around 12 lacs, or 15 lacs at worst. but over here we are getting old generation picanto in 33 lac, why? 🙁

And an other thing is that even if they have high levels of localization, India still imports all of their semiconductor chips for use in their local manufactured cars. How come the shortage is effecting us so badly and how come India is not effected by the shortage and their deliver times are fine?
