All New Geely BinRui Sedan Launched in China

Geely has launched the all-new BinRui sedan in China with extremely competitive prices. The newest sedan was officially unveiled a couple of months ago.

The BinRui sedan has a modern and stylish appearance. The front-end is unmistakably Geely, with signature concentric grille design. There are 6 LED DRLs, three on either of the two headlamps. The car has fierce waistlines, a fastback roof as well as 17-inch double five-spoke rims, the bumper features exaggerated air intake grills and the bonnet has additional creases, befitting a sportier and aggressive look to the vehicle.

The Geely BinRui measures 4680/1785/1460mm with a wheelbase of 2670mm. Being a subcompact sedan its bigger than most cars of its class. As for comparison the BinRui has a much longer wheelbase, and is longer in length & width but slightly shorter in height than the 5th gen Honda City we have here.

Inside, the cabin is classically Geely! Simple and contemporary is the theme here, starting with the three-spoke leather-wrapped multi-function steering wheel, digital instrument cluster, push-start button and a widescreen 10.25-inch infotainment display. This supports Smartphone pairing functionalities and allows 4G Wi-Fi compatibility, GPS navigation, voice recognition, rear view camera and other useful vehicle functions. Below that, are buttons and dials for the dual-zone climate control, a leather gear stick, cubby holes and leather center armrest.

There is a 7-inch multi information display, that gives all sorts of driver & vehicle related information. The display is also fully customized and can be adjusted according to personal preferences. The interior is quite spacious a well as the ample cargo space. The luggage volume is a class leading 470 liters, which can be extended to enormous 808 liters with rear seats folded down.

Key features include exterior heated side mirror, automatic air conditioning with climate control, PM2.5 air purification system, front electronically adjustable heated seats, mobile phone wireless charging, driver/ passenger/ curtain airbags, ABS with EBS, ESC (Electronic Stability Control), TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System), electronic handbrake with automatic parking , intelligent far and near light control, electric sunroof, automatic emergency rescue E-CALL, pre-crash safety system with pedestrian recognition, adaptive cruise control with low-speed automatic follow-up support, traffic congestion assistance, lane keeping and other useful functions.

As for the powertrain, the Geely Binrui offers two engine options. The first is a 1.0 liter turbocharged direct-injection engine that can generates a maximum power of 136hp and 205N·m of peak torque, paired with a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission. The second is a 1.4 liter turbocharged engine that can output 133hp and 215 N·m, mated with a Punch-sourced 8-speed CVT-type automatic transmission. Fuel economy figures of the 1.0 liter engine is rated at 20.4 km/ liter whereas the 1.4 liter engine delivers 17.5 km in a liter.

The Geely BinRui is priced from just 79,800 yuan (PKR 14.3 lac) for the base 1.4 liter version, and goes as high as 110,800 (PKR 19.9 lac) for the flagship 1.0 liter DCT version.

Like the new Geely SX11 BinYue crossover, the BinRui sedan is based on Geely’s new BMA (B-segment Modular Architecture) platform. Reportedly the BinRui sedan will form the basis of the next generation Proton Preve. As part of Geely’s strategy for this region, after acquisition of Malaysian automaker, future Proton vehicles will be rebadged Geely models that will be marketed in Malaysian and other Southeast Asian (RHD) markets.
