This Z12E engine is very promising on paper. It will offer lower number of parts (4-cyl K-serie vs 3-cyl Z-serie), lower fuel consumption, lower emissions, lower weight (easier on the shoulders and back of the mechanic), greater space in the engine room (again better for future repairmen), lower noise, higher low-end torque and improved hybrid mode.

There is very little info on the net about it. The 5th gen Swift is expected to be launched in Japan on 6th December.
Let’s wait to see if the engine proves to be bulletproof or it turns out to be an unreliable maintenance nightmare.
