The way he’s talking, it’s like the entirety of Pakistan is full of millionaires and anyone who cannot afford Suzuki Alto VX is an uncouth buffoon who doesn’t deserve one and should be happy with carrying his entire family on his CD70. 😁

A few years ago, millions of people ranging with salaries from 100,000 to 200,000 a month could easily consider getting themselves a new assembled or used JDM import vehicle, either in installments or by full payment. Now that number is almost zero.

The way you’re talking about it, I don’t think you realize the problem. The fact that only people with around 2.5m to 1crore salaries can only afford to buy a “local” vehicle IS the problem, Khurram. 😕

However, cautious and logical people with buying power resting between 250,000 to even 2,500,000 a month are buying new cars. That is just a salaried class type people, whereas there are so many small business owners, professionals (lawyers, doctors, accountants) whose income Alhamdulillah goes beyond 1 crore a month. They are buying new cars; there literally are thousands of many newly registered shiny new Revos, Fortuners, Corollas, and even Civics running around in posh areas.
As for own money, well, own is like a service and no one but customer can kill it because it is simple rule of supply based on demand, as long as demand for it remains, well it cannot go out of the
equation. Therefore, it is customers’ fault that they cannot wait for their turn. My cousin recently booked a Suzuki Swift. Normal delivery for the vehicle is now around four month whereas by paying own one can get it immediately, my cousin refused and has been waiting for two months now the dealer has given a tentative date after Eid.

P.S. Even in the U.S. old models of selected, Lincoln (town cars), Lexus (L.S. 400 / 430) and Toyota (80s Hilux, Land Cruisers, Supras, Camrys), vehicles are treated as investments so the phenomenon is not new to the market.
