9 months after the post titled “Here you go https://carspiritpk.com/auto-industry-laments-imposition-of-new-taxes/#comment-8642“, on Nov 8, 2022 PakWheels Blog posted https://www.pakwheels.com/blog/govt-forms-complaint-center-against-car-companies/, here are some excerpts:

“Customers are advised to register their complaints with

   Mr. Imran Shahid (Assistant Programmer/Analyst)
   Incharge Complaint Cell
   Ministry of Industries and Production
   Government of Pakistan
1st Floor, A-Block, Pak Secretariat, Islamabad
   Email: [email protected]
   Contact: 051-9205788

Consumers can file a complaint regarding:

   Delayed delivery of vehicles
   Bookings related problems
More than 20% advanced payment demand by car assembler or its dealer/agents
Increase in prices of cars after final contract and payment
Issues I reimbursement of KIBOR+3% penalty payment
And any other policy pertaining to the complaint”

The meaning of “policy pertaining to the complaint” is beyond me, but at least the formation of a channel is a step forward.

The types of complaints mentioned does not iclude poor quality, obsolete models, lack of features and lack of safety etc. etc. but who’s stopping you? Just send it in!

In the same article, there is a quotation from the notification but the spelling of the website is wrong! It is http://www.engineeringpakistan.com, not http://www.engineeringpaksitan.com!

The website of MoI&P: http://www.moip.gov.pk/ (They’re so obsolete they still don’t use https so your browser could give you a warning)

There is a ‘Contact Us’ page on there. (It is a JavaScript link so cannot direct hyperlink to it, just go to main page and Contact Us is on the main menu bar).

Read this circular No.17(1)/2019-Gen http://www.moip.gov.pk/userfiles1/file/CIRCULAR.pdf: “In pursuance of the Prime Minister’s directive regarding resolution of grievances/complaints of general public, all citizens are hereby informed that their applications/petitions/references pertaining to Ministry of Industries and Production shall be disposed of within 30 days of the receipt.”

In the top menu bar, there is an “Online Complaints” menu, from which you can reach “Focal Persons to Deal/Resolve Public Complaints”. On this page there are the contact numbers of focal persons of major federal institutions. Engineering Development Board is also included. This list of persons is specially those people who are “focal persons for public complaints” so you don’t need to be coming from an institution or something to be eligible to file the complaint. Just being a citizen or even a resident of Pakistan will suffice.
There is a Submit Online Complaint button which leads directly to the Federal Ombudsman. Then there is a Download Complaint Form button if you want to write the application by hand and send it via post or courier.

According to this http://www.moip.gov.pk/userfiles1/file/Timelines%20for%20disposal%20of%20complaints.pdf notification the complaints sent to MoI&P through Pakistan Citizens Portal will be resolved within 20 days.

In addition to begrudging about these things on blogs, please write to government offices that actually have the authority and power. Unless you make your voice heard to them they will never know what is in your heart which you are writing in comments on blogs. There is a reason why so-called *local auto vendors and the spare parts manufacturers* are writing to the ministry rather than writing in blogs to sway public opinion (even if they can get paid shills at pennies). They want their voice to be heard in the power corridor, and the GoP has made available to you as a citizen/resident of Pakistan the right avenue on which to express your frustration.

Then once you write to them, follow-up. Keep following up for their response through telephone every 20 or 30 days. Once you receive the response then reply on that response. Don’t stop until you’ve gotten what you want!

All this is so infuriating and frustrating!😤

Visit the PAAPAM website https://www.paapam.com/press-release to see that they have nothing to communicate to anybody in their press releases except lambasting the used car imports.

Examples:
Should the Government Support the elite owners of used cars
PAAPAM Press Release on Cabinet Decision to Increase in Age Limit of Used Cars to 5 years
PAAPAM Press Release Used Cars- Auto Vendors Cry Out for Fair Treatment

They have been beating the drum of the business failure of Hyundai, Chevrolet, Revo & Nissan while completely ignoring the fact that those products and their after sales services were below par.

To sway the public opinion in their favour, they use disgusting words like “elite” and “facilitating the rich”, for the buyers of used JDM imports whereas in reality the most # of imported used cars always have been small 660cc cars or Vitz purchased by middle class people. Do they even realize how ridiculous they look when they call someone an “elite used car buyer”? If someone was really elite why would he/she buy a used car? Why won’t they buy a new car were they soooo elite?

The shameless don’t even think about the slap on their face that customers prefer used import than new local, the reason of which has been extensively discussed online that our brand new local cars are way pathetic, obsolete, featureless, unsafe and low build quality than even the used accidented and repaired imports which are better.

I fully agree with https://carspiritpk.com/auto-industry-laments-imposition-of-new-taxes/#comment-8602 above that spare parts of Mira, Vitz, Every aren’t available, they can manufacture these parts and make a profit.

It is merely an indication of the fact that the auto-assembling mafia is so powerful that instead of parts vendors as a valuable part of their process industry, their association is relegated to being a spokesman of their customers with no opinions of their own.
