Cars like the Land Cruiser and Prado dominate African, Middle eastern and some Asian countries as a status symbol, with little to no competition against them in that market. China is very keen to tap into that market. They could easily take benefit of this by providing a newer, cheaper yet more luxurious product than what is offered by Toyota in these countries. Keep in mind that the current Prado is the exact same Prado platform (J150) since 2009. That is more than a decade year old. BAIC could steal that market from Toyota by providing a much newer car with newer more modern technologies.
