Those companies with exports will have higher caps so they will import more parts which they will assemble for local sale as well as exports thus keeping their prices down; Thus having more affordable products. That means they will attract more customers. That would mean any company NOT focusing on exports will have lower yields and higher prices thus screwing up their market and sales. I just think it is a good solution and might get the (old) local assemblers to finally think about exports. For example, local Toyota has a current assembly capacity of 80,000 cars per year, yet the highest they have ever achieved is less than 65,000 per year. They have a surplus assembly capacity that they can bring into action for exports if they want. Similarly all newcomers are still getting ready and still establishing themselves and their assembly lines. Such a move will force them to think seriously about entering the export market from the get go. This might also have the added benefit of ending the strange fixation with getting euro 2 engines the local jap companies have. We all know they import their engines. Getting euro 5 or 6 engines is just as easy. This might finally get them to update. The new comers from china already have euro 5 engines available. Those who do not, can easily update for exports. Hell! this might even finally bring hybrid vehicle assembly to our country. It seems like a win win. I just think it is a good push... ðŸĪ” ...Or at least, dreamers can dream can't we? 😞ðŸĪĢ]]> In reply to TruongNguyen.

you are absolutely right! 👍

I see a problem with this. If this was implemented, these companies will keep importing parts or selling CBUs and start a new “choona” stating that “government has limited our total spending, therefore we can only make x amount of cars a year” which will screw up the whole supply demand thing, thus making cars even more expensive and increasing their profit margins tri fold. 😐

Correct, public keeps complaining but then again they are the ones who would buy car on own. Maybe they don’t know the power of customer.

Those companies which import parts, be it auto industry or farm equipment or mobile phones or two or three wheelers, which they assemble and only sell locally, a limit must be set by the government to limit their spend to a curtain amount. For example, if we take the local auto assemblers, the government can limit their import spend to about 50 million dollars yearly each. Each company can only import parts/CKD/SKD kits worth only that much.

Those companies or local assemblers; again from the auto industry or mobile phone assemblers or any other sector who actually get parts/CKD/SKD kits to not only assemble locally and sell locally but also for export purposes, their spend on importing is a higher amount. For example if Changan ramps up it’s export side of assembly, it is allowed more revenue to be spent on imports depending on the volume of imports.

That way governor can curb the extra spend and the local companies are incentivised to get into or ramp up their exports.

I think it is a good opportunity for the government to incentivize our local companies to enhance their operations. God knows with the Japs, even thirty years were not enough.

The government will only be taking steps to ensure the survival of the national economy. It has every right to take such measures.

Things like phones, fire starters, gas cookers etc are all luxurious items to him, and man is best suited without these unnecessary inventions. 😁ðŸĪŠ

Ah yes, nothing better than walking great distances for days on our own feet and starting fires using two sticks and some dry grass 😁 Take me back to the old times when we would throw spears at anything we saw that looked foreign to us!! ðŸĪĢ
