BYD has displayed an array of vehicles including the E-SEED GT concept at the ongoing Shanghai Auto Show 2019.
BYD exhibited a total of 23 new car models at the event, fully demonstrating its new modular architecture (BNA), the 3rd generation of Dual Mode technology, plus the e-platform framework. According to Wang Chuanfu, Chairman and President of BYD:
Today, China’s new energy vehicles have entered the ‘fast lane’, ushering in an even larger market outbreak. Presently, we stand at the intersection of old and new kinetic energy conversion for mobility, but also a new starting point for high-quality development.
To meet the arrival of complete electrification, BYD has formulated a series of strategies, and is well prepared. BYD’s latest offerings will bring you a whole new experience, while delivering new power to Chinese cars!
Designed by former Audi designer Wolfgang Egger who now leads BYD has Design Head, the E-SEED GT concept car uses BYD’s signature “Dragon Face” design language, successfully applying the elements of a Chinese dragon into a car design, such as headlights resembling “dragon whiskers”, a “dragon ridge” on its roof, tail and seats,“dragon-scale” features on its door panels and off course “gull wing doors” depicting dragon wings. It also boasts a three-screen interconnection, a retractable steering wheel plus a “BYD heart” and other technologies.
Measuring 4,950/1,890/1,490mm, and a wheelbase of 2,940mm, the E-SEED GT will make use of a 2.0 turbo on the front axle with an electric motor on the rear axle. Combined output is rated at 476 hp, good for a 0-100 in just 2.9 seconds.
