Khurram, what’s stopping you from doing the same?

You’re the one that usually has these problems with EVs and manufacturing and all that. Not us! Why don’t you go buy a Chinese EV and test it for yourself, see if it crumples like paper or crumbles to dust? And if you think you are more literate than him, why don’t you try making a Mehran yourself?

No. You’re only here to cry and blame the cause of your own shortcomings and upbringing on other Pakistanis.

Instead of lamenting over here, go and buy a B.Y.D. E.V., I am pretty sure that the government is not going to stop you. By the way, your illiteracy is not even capable of re-creating a Mehran and you dub a Corolla as a bog-standard, no wonder Pakistani economy is going down and is still doomed.

Agreed. What a shame, even African countries are doing better than us.

Totally Agreed. 👍

Its the ultimate storm of the wrong qualities coming together to make the situation unmanageable.

Because there is no set authority to ensure the following of these rules. These rules are always exploited and loopholed because the government makes these rules discussing it with the very people using these exploits. For example, used imports are so tight it’s almost impossible to import a used car from overseas for yourself, meanwhile it is totally fine for these “local” “manufacturers” to import as many parts from overseas as they want. Because of this, our import spending shot up the roof. What was once counted in millions was now reaching the billions mark. These “halal” imports have caused our import bill to shoot up to the sky more than used imports ever had or will.

Another thing was the EV policy. They made this EV policy discussing it with people who have no intention of bringing EVs to this country; and are even actively against it! So, what do you get? An EV policy that is basically useless. They set the incentives to only benefit EVs with under 50kwh batteries, which frankly none of these or other assemblers in our country even have in their lineup. Even other companies (which are not selling in Pakistan) barely have EVs with under 50kwh batteries, meaning that our government and these assemblers basically killed off the EV scene in Pakistan before it even started.

Either our government bodies are extremely dumb, or they are a part of all this, and they know exactly what they’re doing.

I would say the auto industry policymakers are the main cause for this and even if we see no. of stuff which are written are still not being implemented such as localization which can bring down the prices… but we are still keeping importing …

Progress is measured by Toyota introducing CVT in a bog-standard 10 year old dubba Corolla. Some people are still calling 40 year old Mehroo, Boloo and Ravina the epitome of automotive achievement and the EV policy is being bludgeoned to death before it even gets off the ground…

Real progressive… 🤦‍♂️
