However, it is pertinent to note that import of Harley Davidson needs to be bashed as it can only serve the interest of one and very limited section of Pakistan and as this class is Mashaa Allah rolling in money. Therefore, in my opinion, this class won’t even be effected if the government were to impose a 500% of the current taxes on such bikes, cars and SUVs.
Moreover, for a good measure, buses such as M.A.N. or Yutong sleepers should also be subjected to higher taxes since their import is not offering any type of convenience to the masses (poor people cannot even afford to pay for its shortest route).
By doing this, and taking other well-calculated measure and also imposing the condition about use of locally sourced raw material, I believe that in short-term at-least the government would be able control trade deficit.
