Changan Oshan X5 Plus SUV Pre-Sale Begins in China

Changan is on the verge of formally launching the Oshan X5 Plus compact SUV in China aimed at younger car buyers with a pre-sale price range of 99,900 yuan – 117,900 yuan (PKR 31.14 lac – PKR 36.70 lac).

Built on the Changan MPA platform, the original Oshan X5 was first revealed in July 2020 at the Chongqing Motor Show and subsequently launched in Chinese domestic market in November 2020. The new X5 Plus is essentially a souped-up version of the regular Oshan X5.

The vehicle measures 4,540mm long, 1,860mm wide and 1,620mm tall with a 2,715mm wheelbase. This makes it considerably larger than the newly launched Honda HR-V in Pakistan which measures 4,330mm/ 1,790mm/ 1,590mm with a 2,610mm wheelbase.

In terms of styling, the Oshan X5 Plus gets even aggressive & sportier looks thanks to even sharper headlamps, and a redesigned mesh grille with massive geometric bumper indentations. The rear also features reworked slimmer tail lights, a redesigned indented bumper, and a restyled rear spoiler with embedded brake lamp. The Oshan X5 Plus rides on new blacked-out 18-inch alloy wheels to add to the sportiness.

Inside, the interior of Oshan X5 Plus is covered with a large area of soft materials and offers two color themes, namely “fashionable energetic” and “blackened sports”, according to Changan.

The large 30-inch triple-screen which is slightly inclined towards the driver, comprises of an instrument panel, central control screen, and a 4.2-inch “driving assistance screen” that supports navigation by displaying blind spots (on the left A-pillar), road signs, and real-time traffic information.

The infotainment system uses the OnStyle 5.0 system with karaoke and voice recognition. Other features include face recognition, autonomous parking, and wireless charging.

Under the hood, the Oshan X5 Plus gets Changan’s latest generation Blue Core 1.5T engine with a maximum power of 188 hp and a peak torque of 300 Nm, paired to a is 7-speed DCT gearbox. Changan claims the new Oshan X5 Plus can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.51 seconds.

Changan in Pakistan has been testing the Oshan X5 along with the CS35 Plus crossover and is teasing the two with a “Coming Soon” caption on its social handles. Though no official information has been shared regarding the launch timeline of these vehicles.
