Changan Readying the New CS35 Mini SUV

Changan is preparing yet another addition to their flurry of SUVs in China. It’s called the CS35 Mini, which is an iteration to their popular CS15 SUV and will be positioned below the regular CS35, and above the CS15 in Changan’s lineup.

Why not simply call it CS25 since its positioned between the CS15 and CS35, well that’s simply because Changan is reportedly working on another SUV to be called as CS25. The CS35 Mini gets a revised front end, adapting Changan’s contemporary design language with large ‘butterfly’ grille synergizing itself with Changan’s modern range of vehicles including the Eado, Raeton and the new Yuexiang.

CS35 Mini measures 4,135 mm in length, which is 35 mm more than that of CS15. The wheelbase has also been increased by 0 mm to 2,520 mm. Width remains the same at 1,740 mm while the height has been cut by 5 mm to 1,630 mm. To better understand these numbers, the dimensions are roughly comparable to Suzuki Vitara that we have here. With CS35 Mini being slightly shorter in length and width but marginally taller than Vitara while having a bigger wheelbase.

The engine is carried over from the CS15, which is a 1.5 liter naturally aspirated unit with an output of 107hp and 145nm, paired to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed DCT gearbox sending power to front wheels in both the cases.
