Correct. In the rest of the world, changing cars every 5-10 years is quite common, because a car becomes unreliable once it reaches that point of life, be it new or old.

However, in Pakistan, cars are “resale price” assets no matter how old or new, and every car gets driven here no matter how junk. It’s common to come across a used car in the market that has had 20+ owners in its lifetime, probably has been to the moon and back three times in terms of mileage and yet still you see them running and holding value. 😀

Changan need to launch hatchback car and UNI-V sedan car ASAP to cover and grab the market.

UNI-V is the killer of all sedan variants like civic, corolla.

nobody keeps a car forever these days. gone r the days when people kept 1 car for 20/25 years. if these turbo cars can do 250,000 km, which im sure they can then its not a bad deal as u need 7/8 years to reach this mileage

You’re right! Turbocharged technology has it’s advantages and disadvantages. At one side, you have greatly reduced emissions due to cleaner and more thorough fuel burning, lower displacement, higher fuel mileage, and more importantly, more power! But keeping a turbocharged car as a turbocharged car (and not as an expensive blown paperweight) requires good maintenance practices and proper care… which unfortunately, we Pakistanis are quite lacking of… at least at the moment 😅

Maybe that’s why some of us only prefer a car that is either a Toyota or a Honda, and absolutely nothing else! 🤣

You can generate more power from a smaller displacement at the expense of longevity. It seems like their business model: Buy a cheap disposable car with latest technologies with is reliable but not that durable. At least not as durable as a Toyota, but then planned obsolescence has its own advantages. While it is suitable to prefer a 2021 Corolla over a 2021 Alsvin, there’s no sense in keeping and running a 1976 Corolla over a 2021 Alsvin (other than nostalgia which can alternatively be achieved by placing it in a museum).
