Chery Tiggo 7 Plus Launched in China

Chery has launched the new Tiggo 7 Plus in Chinese market. The latest addition to the Tiggo family will be slotted between Tiggo 7 and Tiggo 8 and will be positioned in the up-scale market segment. With this, Chery now has almost a dozen Tiggo crossovers in the lineup.

The exterior design is attractive with a dominating mesh grille up front flanked by sharp & slender LED headlamps. There are faux air inlets on the far sides of the chiselled front bumper which depending on the variant, gets either a chrome or color strip (usually a contrasting hue) on the lower section. The contrasting colored elements can also be found in other places such as fender, around the roof and rear spoiler.

The side isn’t much different than the regular Tiggo 7 with a floating roof effect and a kink towards the last window similar to what you see in a Toyota Fortuner. The rear end features slim connected tail lamps and reflector elements housed on the bumper which gets dual exhausts on either side. The black claddings with silver embellishments on the lower side of the vehicle enhances the look of the Tiggo 7 Plus.

The interior is simple yet attractive featuring a dashboard that gets seamless dual 12.3 inch screens, the left side of which is dedicated for instrument cluster and the right side for infotainment functions that supports voice commands, Baidu CarLife and Apple CarPlay while running on Chery’s Lion 4.0 operating system. There are slim air vents that runs along the entire width of t he dashboard, below which there is another touch screen for controlling heating & ventilation.

The 5-seat Chery Tiggo 7 Plus measures 4,500mm long, 1,842mm wide and 1,746mm tall with a 2,670mm wheelbase and is best comparable to the Proton X70 we have here as far as the dimensions are concerned. Key features include PM2.5 air purification system, ION plasma generator, panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, wireless phone charging, auto air conditioning with climate control, heated & electrically adjustable front seats, power tailgate and 360-degrees camera support.

Safety systems include driver/ passenger & side airbags, ABS with EBD & BA as well as driver assistance systems including adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, adaptive headlights, lane change assist, blind spot monitoring, front collision warning, and fully automatic parking.

The Tiggo 7 Plus is available with three powertrain options. There is a 1.5L turbo with 156 hp and 230 Nm, paired to either a 6-speed manual or CVT and a rated fuel consumption of 14.5km per liter. Then there is a 1.5L turbo with 48V mild hybrid system good for 156 hp and 230 Nm & comes mated to a CVT. This engine delivers up to 17km in a liter. Lastly there is a 1.6L turbo with 197 hp and 290 Nm, mated to a 7-speed DCT gearbox and returns 15.15 km per liter.

The new Chery Tiggo 7 Plus is priced from 86,800 yuan (PKR 22.91 lac) for the base model and goes as high as 123,900 yuan (PKR 32.71 lac) for the flagship variant.
