Japan has made its national brand image over honesty but again and again we get reminded that the Jap auto industry is an exclusion.

So here comes the conspiracy theory: They are secretly conniving with other Japanese carmakers to artificially create a shortage of cars so that everybody can profit.

Japs carmakers always play the deep underhanded dirty market politics which is difficult to understand. The main hypocrisy is that above all, they still beat the drum of honesty, truth, standing by best business practices and above all “customer centrism”. The Western automakers are better in the sense that they’re blatant about their greed.

Sounds same as how Nissan “whistleblew” about Mitsubishi’s emissions cheating and then when the share price crashed, Nissan acquisitioned Mitsubishi.
