In the initial news it was mentioned 6-speed manual but now it is apparent that it was a typo, although the principal does sell it in other places, as mentioned here https://carspiritpk.com/dewan-farooque-motors-to-launch-kia-shehzore/#comment-16254. The vehicle prominently displays Euro-II on it. It is not a feature but it is to be ashamed of. If I were in the marketing, I would secretly hide the fact that this vehicle is only Euro-II. Euro-6 version of the vehicle does exist. In fact other carmakers (Chinese of course) have been offering Euro-III and Euro-IV trucks since long without any compulsion.

Its double door version was under immense debate on social media! https://www.pakwheels.com/blog/double-cabin-kia-shehzore-a-genius-move-or-a-mistake-in-pakistan/

Meanwhile PakWheels has published a “First Drive Review” having 6 minutes of video https://www.pakwheels.com/blog/locally-assembled-kia-shehzore-first-drive-review/. It is a good initiative to post drive videos and reviews of commercial vehicles and there should be special emphasis on the “Lack of Creature Comfort and Safety Features in Commercial Vehicles” https://carspiritpk.com/lack-of-creature-comfort-in-local-assembled-commercial-vehicles/.

The reviewer should also strengthen his legal knowledge since he repeatedly called it an HTV although Shehzore falls in LTV category as per the legal definition from the Motor Vehicles Ordinance 1965.

By: Will Pakistan get a stripped-out featureless Bongo https://carspiritpk.com/dewan-farooque-motors-to-launch-kia-shehzore/#comment-16254 Sun, 18 Feb 2024 18:25:38 +0000 https://carspiritpk.com/?p=80909#comment-16254 In reply to Recycling the old failure…!.

Read the Wikipedia closely and you’ll find that the 4th generation facelift Kia Bongo (also called Kia Frontier) is up to date with a powerful commonrail turbodiesel and 6-gear manual box.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kia_Bongo#Facelift_2

The 4th generation Hyundai Porter H-100 has been around since 2004 so it is ancient but at the same time has also been kept up-to-date https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyundai_Porter#Fourth_generation_(2004%E2%80%93present), with Euro 6 since 2016. Also “Due to the introduction of new regulations, tire pressure monitoring system, stability control and anti-lock braking became standard on every variant since 2015.

Safety features like airbags and reverse parking sensor …. Convenience features such as steering wheel audio controls, a 7-inch navigation screen, hipass rear view mirror, Bluetooth handsfree were added.

Wanna think which which we’ll get in Pakistan?

By: The Shehzore nomenclature https://carspiritpk.com/dewan-farooque-motors-to-launch-kia-shehzore/#comment-16229 Sat, 17 Feb 2024 07:39:38 +0000 https://carspiritpk.com/?p=80909#comment-16229 Shehzore is a Persian word and a common name in interior Sindh. It rings in parallel to the location of their plant which was in interior Sindh too. While the Santro remained Santro, the truck was named something that would sound more familiar to the people who are more probable to buy and operate the truck.

It is similar to how PakSuzuki paid homage to all 4 provinces of Pakistan by selecting landmarks of each province to name their cars: Khyber (NWFP – it was renamed to KPK in 2010), Potohar & Ravi (Punjab), Bolan (Balochistan), Mehran (Sindh) and Margalla (Islamabad Capital Territory). Why does Margalla has a double L? And why didn’t they include any name from the GB-region (erstwhile Northern Areas)?

By chance I traveled in one this week, and found it to be equally uncomfortable as other commercial vehicles.

Which brings me to the most pertinent topic:- https://carspiritpk.com/lack-of-creature-comfort-in-local-assembled-commercial-vehicles/

I don’t know who imported/assembled/sold/marketed it, but red coloured Kia Ceres trucks were a road staple in our childhood.

Later on DFML introduced the Hyundai Shehzore. It was better than the previous gen but still had a long stopping distance and problems with cooling fan, which had a viscous-fluid-coupling type clutch in it. It also came with poor headlights the conventional fresnel refractor lens and the headlights never illuminated the whole stopping distance. Also lacking basic other basic safety features viz. the visor strip https://carspiritpk.com/changan-unveils-new-yida-sedan-in-china/#comment-13330

AFAIK the Daehan Shehzore was also a sister product, merely a label change.
Kia Frontier was introduced by LMC but failed.
Hyundai H-100 Porter is the same thing too.
Now that it is clear the product keeps failing again & again, why do they want to launch it?

Most of these were already based on the Mazda E2200 (Bongo) van, which used to be and still popular in Pakistan.
Now the donor vehicle, the Bongo has taken another direction while Korean companies keep recycling the old stuff.

Spectra, kia Classic & old Sportage in Dewan era were gems
