They are nationalistic and that is leading them to look at others and think “we can do that (better)”
The perception of low quality; yes it is there but it is fast changing. Even big companies like Volkswagen are wary of what these guys can do especially in the EV market. Especially in EVs they are moving at lighting speed. Even Elon Musk can see that. Chinese companies are a genuine threat.

FYI. The Hongqi is the Luxury arm of FAW Group. The FAW vehicle that we got here was the V2. Compare that to the Hongqi EV SUV. They have come a long way in very short time.

Noteworthy is that Chinese policies are nationalistic. They are strict towards foreign brands and lax towards their national brands. This helped them grow their local industry, whether it is IT, medical, automotive, ship-building or whichever. This in turn is not beneficial for their export markets where they have long been competing on being the cheapest but at a lower quality level.

we deserve better

As we have been gaslighted multiple times in the comments section about Pakistanis being allegedly low education, low moral standard, lawless lawbreakers and dishonest, therefore not deserving of any improvements, I hereby concur that the sentiment that “we deserve better” is not shared by all and sundry.

That is what makes my blood boil.
Why are we ok with that. Why is resale the be all and end all of everything?
Why are we ok with being a dumpster for old models and tech?
Why are we ok with such low quality, non to very low safety standards, long delivery times and the lanat of own?
We must realise we deserve better.

Exactly! And not to mention that Tesla there is a premium EV car brand (well, 50,000$ for a Tesla 3 is a premium anywhere if you ask me) so these customers questioning their high priced vehicle’s build quality is highly deserved. It is the same thing as a Civic customer complaining about their 40 lacs vehicle having sub standard welding and panel issues here in Pakistan, but over there, they’re actually solving the problem thru the government/consumer court.

They are fighting for their consumer rights from a foreign company and here we are told to just be happy with what these “Japanese” assemblers are throwing at us because “it’s the best they could give us”. 🙄

i see the point. although the news may not be related to our market but by posting such articles at least the blogger is trying to make a point, why can’t our leaders & govt become sincere in the auto sector?

The Chinese through the right governance, ideals, drive and technological advancements etc. have now made themselves such a power and raised the quality of life so much for their people, that the richest man in the world has to go groveling to them and has to “play nice”.

Aby dekh rahy ho my dear leaders. This is how to hold the companies responsible. Here you allow them to sell to your people what ever crap they find in the bargain bin at extreme prices. And they make you think they are benefiting the nation… and you believe them!!!

Here’s and example, the motorbike prices have gone up by an average of 10K to 30K. Do you know the only “new thing” we are paying for are stickers or maybe a plastic piece worth pennies?
