very soon they will feel the trouble of owning such a cheap pretty box when in ten years (or 1million kms, whichever comes first) they will have to replace a part and will not find parts availability in their nearest Ustaad Jamali Genral Ishtore 🤪

“The drivetrain of an electric vehicle, by comparison, is extraordinarily simple…”

I invite ICE fanboy/s to please reread the paragraphs sighted above. These explain the crux of the ICE vs. EV matter. ICE was and still is difficult to do. EV is not. That is evident from the fact of the sheer number of EV companies that we see start up each year. Compare that to the number of old-school ICE companies. How many of those do we see start up each year?

Some of the older readers like myself may remember the VCR. It was a marvel of technical engineering. If anyone can, go take a look at how complex the inner workings of it were. The tape from the cassettes had to move at the exact speed while the read head or drum that read the magnetic tape moved at a certain speed and a complex mechanical system was needed to wrap the tape around the head. And all of it had to be translated and decided by the hardware. It was complex and expensive to do. Now it is all done by software reading data streams from either an online source or a media file on your phone or PC. And the picture quality that you get, we could not even dream of back in the day.

Same was the case with the CRT TV. Mind you, there are still people who swear by the picture quality black levels and refresh rates of the CRT. Unfortunately, they were so expensive to make, the largest mass produced CRT never went beyond 40 inch. It was a Sony TV from 2002. It was over 300 pounds in weight. It was the last desperate attempt by, again a jap company, to keep the past relevant in a world fast leaving them behind. Good thing they quickly learned their lesson. Now, A 40 or 50 inch LCD TV is no big deal and you can pick it up with one hand. Technology advancement is a beautiful thing.

In some ways, it’s like the fight of the ICE vehicle companies against the EVs. The tech has made the transport making business simpler. Cars are no longer a very specialized item. Mass production is now easier. Too bad we have the old companies trying their damnedest to keep things as they were. Problem is, in the more advance countries they will not succeed. So, Three guesses as to where they will turn their focus and try to delay or subjugate the change over to EVs….. 😤
