After unveiling the 4th gen model in July, Hyundai has officially launched the new Tucson in India with prices starting from INR 27.69 lac for the base variant and INR 34.39 lac for the flagship trim.
The new Hyundai Tucson comes with a radically aggressive design and a host of new advanced features as well, which includes the entry of ADAS or Advanced driver-assistance systems. It is pertinent to mention that this is the long-wheelbase guise, since a short wheelbase version is also available globally & is mostly sold in European region.
The latest Tucson in India is offered with petrol as well as diesel engines. The 2.0L four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol unit already powers the Alcazar in Indian market, producing 156hp and 192Nm of torque, and is mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox. On the other hand, the 2.0L diesel engine churns out 186hp of power and 416Nm of torque, and is mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. There is no manual gearbox on offer, but the all-wheel drive system with multi-terrain modes (Snow, Mud and Sand) is an option on the top diesel variant.
Inside, there is a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system that is neatly integrated in the dashboard. Additionally, it also has a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster with personalized themes and turn by turn navigation. The new Tucson packs features like dual-zone climate control, heated and ventilated front seats, wireless smartphone charging, panoramic sunroof, air purifier, 64-color ambient lighting, 360-degree cameras, electric adjustment for the drivers seat with memory function, rain sensing wipers, reclining rear seats, connected car features, voice commands, Alexa and Google assistant support, 8-speaker Bose sound system and powered tailgate etc.
Standard safety features include 6 airbags, front and rear parking sensors, ESC, hill-descent control and all-wheel disc brakes. Tucson is the first Hyundai to get ADAS technology in India, as well as the first in the segment to get blessed with this feature. Though ADAS is available only on the flagship Signature trim and bring a suite of features like forward collision warning, blind spot assist, lane keep assists, rear cross traffic alert and more.
The new Tucson will rival against the likes of the Jeep Compass, Citroen C5 Aircross and the Volkswagen Tiguan as well as the higher-spec variants of Tata Harrier, MG Hector and Mahindra XUV700. The all-new Hyundai Tucson in India is priced as:
- Platinum Petrol: INR 27,69,700
- Platinum Diesel: INR 30,19,700
- Signature Petrol: INR 30,17,000
- Signature Diesel: INR 32,87,000
- Signature Diesel AWD: INR 34,39,000
