Geely is seeing Proton’s poor performance. What happened in Pakistan is not an isolated blip for Proton. Reading up on them, they have this common issue with meeting commitments. Maybe Geely is seeing this and knows it might reflect badly on them. Also, having such a lethargic partner doesn’t bode well for their fast paced expansion plans.

Secondly, now that Chinese brands are well on their way to making their mark on the automotive world and are making their presence known, Geely might finally be waking up to the fact that they don’t need such partnerships to facilitate their expansion. They can easily and more efficiently do it on their own.

Going by Proton’s performance thus far, they are little more than dead weight for Geely at this point.
