Govt Increases Petrol Prices by Another Rs 30 per Liter

Finance Minister Miftah Ismail has announced that the federal government’s has decided to increase the price of petrol to Rs 209.86 per liter. Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, the finance minister said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved hiking the rates of petrol, diesel, and light diesel by Rs 30 per liter, however the price of kerosene oil has increased by Rs 26.38 per liter.

According to Miftah Ismail, “kerosene oil is the only commodity which is not leading to losses for the government. However, we are facing losses of Rs8 on light diesel, Rs9 on petrol, and Rs23 on high-speed diesel.” The new prices are applicable immediately from 3rd June 2022 and is the second substantial hike in prices after the previous one was announced recently on 26th May. The revised rates of petroleum products (per liter) are:

  • Petrol — Rs 209.86
  • Diesel — Rs 204.15
  • Light diesel — Rs 178.31
  • Kerosene oil — Rs 181.94
