The front design is more reminiscent of GMC trucks. That is the design (and even the design of Dodge trucks) that Toyota has copied with the Tacoma. The reason is simple. If you are targeting a market, you sell some thing which the people in said market are used to buying. It’s called Familiarity. Again that is why Toyota also has changed its design style to best match the offering from the Americans in the Americas and has more European designs in Europe. You can see that in any Lexus or Toyota car/SUV in that (European) market.

This Tank 500 is also destined to be sold in Markets like Australia and other right/left hand markets. Even in the middle east the Chinese brands are gaining more traction and because mostly american vehicles were the major choice for buyers till now; it only makes sense to offer something that is familiar and a design language that is widely accepted and recognised.

You keep on accusing the Chinese of never reinventing the wheel and not making anything on their own. For example wheels were always there and the Chinese just used them making them copy cats or in the case of engine tech that the Chinese used and modified (existing) tech and did not invent anything on their own making them copycats. In your book, the Japs or others sharing tech that’s OK but when Chinese do it, it’s just wrong!! Weird stuff like that.
