These so called democratic governments have demonstrated their incompetence in spades in handling the industrialization of the nation, especially in case of the auto sector. 35 years and nothing to show for it.

To heck with localization if we are always promised “it is coming”. It seems to be always some time away and we are always playing the waiting game. Enough is enough! Forget the local companies, just start the used car imports from china and japan. The main life blood of the nation’s auto industry is in places like sultan ka khoo or shobah or bilal gunj anyway. They are what keep most of the cars running on the roads anyway.

These big companies especially the old three have huge assembly capacities and still they do not utilize them fully to overcome the own problem or to take the country into the assembled cars export game. Even the new companies are following suit. If any new companies had any plans for local assembly for export, with Pakistan’s extremely temperamental and unprofessional implementation of auto policies which change more often than the seasons, no company will make any huge investment in such an unsecure environment. These big companies are just a burden on the economy and are a vehicle for keeping a few rich and keeping the rest of us deprived of any benefits from this very important industry.
