Honda Atlas in in process of finally replacing the old 5th gen City in Pakistan that was introduced back in January 2009. However the replacement is also an obsolete 6th generation model which was succeeded by the 7th gen City that made its world debut in November 2019.

The company is carrying trials and tests of the new model with camouflaged test mules running across the roads of various cities. Hilariously however, in the age of internet & social media, there is no point in camouflaging something that is well-known to the public and has been discontinued elsewhere. Furthermore the car can be found running here on our roads in form of Grace hybrid thanks to used Japanese imports, since Grace is just another name of 6th gen City (specific for the Japanese domestic market).

Honda has already opened pre-bookings of the ‘new’ (if you agree to call it so) City sedan which as per information will be available in two engine & transmission options– a 1.2L and 1.5L unit paired to either manual or CVT gearbox. The flagship Aspire versions will be there with 1.5L engine in both manual & CVT guises. Booking amount for the standards variants was Rs 1 million whereas the Aspire variants could be booked against Rs 1.2 million.

The company hasn’t officially displayed any unit at its dealership yet, nor it has revealed any details regarding specifications or equipment, still it claims to have garnered over 7,000 bookings without even putting the vehicle on display. The same was the case when 10th gen Honda Civic was launched in 2016 and BR-V in 2017.
According to the Punjab excise department, the vehicle price of the Tafetta White test mule is PKR 27.25 lac while the unit was registered just recently on the 7th of June 2021. The engine number starting with L12B suggests its a 1.2L variant while according to sources, the said price is for the 1.2L CVT variant with manual one expected to be a little cheaper.

Upon arrival the 6th gen Honda City will go against the likes of Toyota Yaris, Changan Alsvin and Proton Saga sedans in the market. Official launch date is yet to be announced though, stay tuned to CarSpiritPK for more information.
