What I want to highlight are the very high prices, we in Pakistan, are paying.
Let me again explain with the example of the Toyota Land Cruiser:
In Japan, the original Market Sale Price of the model of the Land Cruiser that we discussed here is 8 Million PKR (Converted from Yen to PKR)
The Cruiser is Imported from Japan by Philippines and is sold there locally at 16 million PKR. That is 200% of its original sale price in Japan. That in the Philippines will will include, purchase price, shipping, handling, applicable Taxes and Profits.
Similarly The Cruiser is imported from Japan to Vietnam. It is sold there at 28 million PKR. That is approx. 350% of the original (Japanese) price. Again that sale price in Vietnam includes all the shipping, handling, taxes and profit margins.
In Pakistan, the Cruiser is sold at 53 million PKR. That is over 650% of the original price!
That is what I set out to highlight here. Is this discrepancy due to taxes only or is it a case of the companies being completely unmonitored and are charging what they want? That is less of a “price” and more like extortion. Even if it is a case of extreme taxes, they must be lowered for the sake of the growth of the industry.
That is what I would like our Government or an independent body to investigate and correct.
This problem is also present in locally assembled cars as well. Their prices must also be scrutinized to ensure that these companies are not over charging consumers because they know they can get away with it.

I understand it should be emphasized, but because of having CKD it’s mean Pakistan already take a step for his economy, today Proton will not only produce CKD in Pakistan to sale car in Pakistan but they also want those CKD to be exported from Pakistan, since Proton is growing, and it will be a first in Pakistan to be able to export cars.
Pakistan export is based on food, textil, and sport equipments merely, but what we are importing, phones, cars, electronics devices etc, we are importing expensive stuff and exporting affordable and cheap stuff, you understand why they is deficit in Pakistan trade ?
Is not only about car is the whole system, but two game changer are coming Proton wich whay i said before and Samsung according to news, Samsung is planning to build a manufacturing plant, both of them have seen the day during PM Imran Khan mandate.
We can say is a PM who is doing good.
And we should as Pakistani do something for us,for example it was heartbreaking for me when Daraz was sold to Alibaba it was a very promising e-commerce website, why those crazies sold it ???
Make a brand, grow it, keep it and do something for your own country.

Regarding your last line “TO KEEP the country economy in balance we must avoid import and increase export.” it should be emphasized again & again that currently the CKDs enjoy low taxes just a fake “manufacturing”, infact it is “assembling of imported spare parts” all the way hence it is the greater contributor to trade deficit and current account deficit, as it is a hidden problem infact a sugar-coated poison is worse than a bitter poison. If we import proper CBU then at least it is clear that it is poison. And one more thing cannot understand is that most companies are importers of cars and very few of them have own brands or own assembly e.g. US, Japan, Germany, France, China, India also have own brands and own manufacturing remaining 100+ countries do not, so why aren’t these 100+ importers suffering from imports of cars but Pakistan is?
