That is around 66 lac PKR. If the “bahana” is that it is cheaper in the US because it is manufactured in the US, here is another example; In the Philippines, where the Corolla is an IMPORT, the top of the line Corolla GR-S hybrid is 1.73 Million Philippine Pesos. That comes out to be around 84 Lac PKR.

The important point to note here is that for 84 lacs in the Philippines, they are getting the very top of the line Corolla GR-Sport Hybrid! It is better tuned, hybrid and has more tech than our local Corolla Grande can ever dream of in its grandest dreams! And on top of all that, the corolla in the Philippines is the latest 12th gen and not the outdated 11th gen that we have here!

Hybrids are NOT as expensive as our local “expert” businessmen-in-charge of these companies make them out to be. Hybrids are very much within reach. The only real question is, why is it more profitable for our local car companies to keep Pakistan as the dumping ground for old models?!
It is the only explanation/conclusion any rational mind would come to; The only reason that we have perpetual “old model syndrome” is because it must be more profitable for the companies here to sell old stock. 🤔 Even when sales are tanking like in the case of the old Honda BR-V or the Suzuki Wagon-R and Ravi etc.

Customers should have all the options in the market EV, Hybrid and basic ICE.
