Well, not only Pakistan. Another country very similar to Pakistan in this regard is Philippines. The country is a wholesale exporter of honest hard-working people who become expat or migrant workers elsewhere while the local government, bureaucracy and politicians promote corruption and class-based culture where everybody is after “status”, as if it means anything.
Here’s a gem I came across on the net: “The amount of tint here seems to be a status symbol more than anything regarding keeping the car cool.”Read the whole post here: https://www.expatforum.com/posts/15458464/

That for the local companies is a big no no because that might/will needlessly eat into their profits. Its all about profits for them. The local Japan fanboys are tripping over each other to get their "Premium/status symbol" outdated and feature stripped cars anyway. Agreed on all points.

I think the tint on big vehicles is also a way for the rich and powerful to announce themselves. Its a differentiator. Its wrong, but what can you do in a society designed around the existence and promotion of such differences?

The other thing is if the policy makers did something about the tint issue and allowance/requirement of a certain level of privacy glass to be installed as standard on local cars, that would mean them doing actual work and THAT is their kryptonite. Actual progressive work will kill them. 😄

There is a 17:14 length video which shows the application process as well as the immediately-after review, which the video host also agreed that they have no lab instruments to measure its effectiveness, but from a subjective POV they perceive a major difference. They also include some snippets from the installation process which show that the transparent heat-rejection film will be applied inside and externally on the windscreen.

IMHO the car companies are way too powerful at lobbying the government on issues like banning imports and getting relief. Why can’t they go forth and install privacy glass factory-fitted from the birth of the car. Privacy glass is not too dark so it is not a law-enforcement magnet nor a safety problem because the driver can’t see well. It is good at heat blocking too.

It is comical the unequal application of law where the police fine normal cars for having 35% light-blocking tint film while they do nothing to orphaned JDMs which come factory-fitted with such glass. Last time we knew, most of the crimes and terrorism is committed using motorcycle cue the frequent double-sawari pe pabandi that is being applied less frequently now. For all the propaganda against India that Indians are cow-urine-drinkers and what not, Pakistan itself is a highly class-difference based society and the legal structure doesn’t want to make any moral progress in the nation. In fact the legal structure is further fracturing the society by enabling different classes in the society. JDMs that cannot remove tints because the glass itself is coloured, then the police number plate Revos which have jet black tints even on the front windscreen. Upscale luxury cars with tints are unstoppable by the police while random Mehran-owners suffer in sweltering heat because they belong to the lower-income class.

Factory-fitted privacy glass of a certain pre-specified light transmittance level and pre-specified heat-blockage level will further improve the situation of equality in the society, improve citizen health, reduced burden on healthcare system as well as further promote social harmony and public good by strengthening the regulatory scenario in which the rights & responsibilities and authorities & permissions of citizens and law enforcement are increasingly well-defined and unambiguous.

Till that time you can get Hyundai’s clear tints or 45% heat blocking 3M colourless tint that has been available in the shops for some time. Some shopkeepers also have the solar irradiation meter with which they can demonstrate the heat rejection performance of the tint in front before you think of applying it for Rs. 450/sft.
