Salient points from the video:
1) They cannot agree on the fuel average, the owner says 17 but the meter shows 8.6
2) Confusion about ECT – ECT is not the gearbox, it the name of the tech for the accelerator pedal and the butterfly in the throttle body
3) CVT (surprisingly) has faster kick-up than conventional auto and allows the engine to rev harder before upping to next the gear ratio
4) The plastic bits and bumpers scrape in places. The car looks non-serious because of ricer plastic trimmings.
5) The owner says that the light from the headlight is too dim and should give LED projection light just like the SE or 1.8
6) No mention of the name of either gearbox

On 16 Dec 2022, PakWheels Blog has found at least one sample – parked in a showroom nonetheless – which is assumed to be a CVT in the content of the article despite the heading saying that it has been “Launched”.

Main differences that help to identify is new design wheel rims, new shift lever which has ± setting, and missing “Super ECT” logo. Wonder why, because the engine remains the same and Super ECT is just a fancy name for drive-by-wire accelerator pedal, not related to gearbox at all.

The name of the CVT gearbox is unknown as of yet.

It is possible that Toyota would cease production of the U340E transmission, hence the shift to another kind of gearbox. Just a theory.

An illiterate who thinks that he knows more about Corolla than actual users of the vehicle, by the way, Mehran belongs to a different category and was aimed at different customer base, therefore do not compare both. No wonder, people sitting in corridor think and act like this and cause problems for Pakistani economy.

Its infuriating to see how easily corrupt behavior comes to these companies; and they still claim “committed to innovation”. What innovation? Innovation in coming up with new ways to fleece the customers? They are taking full advantage of the ignorance and corruption of the ones In charge and of the ignorance and disinterest of the general public; as long as resale is good. 😤😡🤬

Anything for a quick buck.

A new form of planned upgrades. Instead of giving us all at once at launch, first they will launch the absolute bare bones, and then slowly by slowly over the years they will keep adding an extra “feature” so it looks like they always have something new to give when it was never new and was supposed to launch with the car in the first place.

Surely, they will do this with the “new” 12th gen Corolla… if they ever decide to bring it here. Good Old Toyota way!! 🤪

This CVT was offered with the 11th gen corolla from the start. The true question is, WHY was this not offered already? WHY was the VERY basic option of the 4 speed auto given up till now in a dubba corolla costing half a caror?!!!
