Chinese consumer is very demanding. While the government system in Japan is semi-democratic (there is a king as well) and the Chinese political system is according to socialism/communism, the Japanese government-business complex treats customers like sheeple. On the other hand the Chinese customers are very strong-headed, obstinate, demanding and have free thought as far as acquiring products/services from a business matters. This can be attested to by the scathing consumer reviews on Taobao (Chinese medium version of Aliexpress) given by customers to businesses.Chinese people in general are very polite and either totally avoid or very indirectly express their displeasure in general social interactions, but when it comes to consumer reviews you can see the full-blown criticism.
It is very difficult to do business in China one because the government has very strict patriotic regulations which favour local JV partner and other local competitor businesses over foreign businesses, and two because it is not easy to please Chinese customers.
