For around 20 days, there was a problem in the comments where the cursor didn’t appear in the “Join the discussion” box. At first the comments box became unreliable (as in at some times the I could type into it, but then the Post Comment button won’t perform anything – later on the comments box became totally uncooperative – means no cursor). The problem seems to have resolved now. Posts of some commenters (some routine contributors and some new ones) did appear in the meanwhile, which means that the problem was on-and-off.

The new homepage layout also doesn’t show the latest comment, even though this format does remain in the sidebar in the articles. This way if someone posts a comment on an old topic (by arriving on it e.g via search), only those subscribers who get the notification email will ever know, and the new contribution to the old topic will never get eyeballs otherwise. So maybe some comments were made, but you remained unaware.
