Reuters article gives more clarity on this: https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/lamborghini-introduces-four-day-week-production-workers-2023-12-05/

Production workers on a rotating two-shift schedule will alternate a five-day week with a four-day week, overall cutting 22 days of work each year, the unions said.

Those on a three-shift rota, which includes night shifts too, will have a five-day week alternated with two four-day weeks, cutting their yearly working days by 31.

There is some mental gymnastics involved in the “work less, work better”. Why not work 1 day per year that too only 2 hours?

On the surface it looks like a game of premiums. This way Lamborghinis will be in short supply in the market and their on-money will increase. Is it smelling fishy? Will the union leaders secretly book the vehicles under fake names and then get to enjoy the on-money? Is the factory management complicit with the union in this matter? Why is it only happening in the expensive car factory? Why isn’t it happening in the other, run-of-the-mill brands Skoda, VW & Audi owned by the same company?
And that Ford, GM and Fiat etc. want to earn on volume instead of earning on shortage.
