India’s flagship motor show Auto Expo 2023 kicked off on Wednesday with the global unveiling of Suzuki’s concept electric SUV called ‘eVX’ which is slated to hit the market by 2025. The company’s Indian arm Maruti Suzuki is among the major manufacturers participating in the show that has returned after 3 years.
Said to be built on a dedicated electric car platform that will also be shared with Toyota (Suzuki & Toyota enjoys a collaborative partnership in India), Maruti will reportedly be sourcing battery packs from BYD. The eVX concept features a 60 kWh pack which is good to deliver a range of up to 550 km, but a smaller battery around the 48 kWh size with a shorter range is expected to be available as well when it goes into production eventually.
The compact SUV has short overhangs typical of an electric car and measures 4,300 mm long, 1,800 mm wide, and 1,600 mm tall, while having a 2,700 mm wheelbase. According to information, Maruti Suzuki will price it in the range of INR 15 lac to INR 20 lac domain.
