Known as the most storied nameplate of Maruti in India, the new Wagon R has become even more efficient after receiving the recent updates. Powering the Wagon R is Suzuki’s new 1.2L K12C engine generating 89hp of power and 113Nm of torque and comes equipped with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed automated manual (AMT/ AGS) gearbox. The ARAI (Automotive Research Association of India) certified fuel efficiency figure is 24.43km/l (combined).
However a recent real-word test has just attested the impressive fuel efficiency figure of the new Wagon R in India. The tested variant was the 1.2L AGS which was driven within city as well as on open highways. According to the test, in city conditions, Wagon R returned an efficiency of 19.31km/l with the vehicle’s MID (multi-information display) indicating 19.80km/l. On highway, the Wagon R returned an efficiency of 22.34km/l with the MID indicating 24km/l.
In addition to 1.2L, the Wagon R in India also comes with a 1.0L engine and CNG options. Maruti says both the engines have been tweaked to make the already very efficient WagonR squeeze out even more mileage. The 1.0L engine claims 25.19 km/l while the CNG variants claim 34.05 km per kg.
Standard safety features of 2022 Suzuki Wagon R in India include dual airbags, ABS with EBD, front seat belts reminder, high-speed alert system and rear parking sensors. It is priced from INR 5.47 lac for the base 1.0L LXI variant and goes as high as INR 7.19 lac for the 1.2L AGS (dual-tone) version.
