It is amazing how high the Chinese manufacturers have set the standard for safety features and up-to-date technology even in their basic, small vehicles. OTOH the Japanese are lagging behind with rear drum brakes on best-seller & critical vehicles like the Hilux, and LED matrix headlights only for the ultra-luxury top-trims, projector headlights for the mid-trims and conventional crystal light for the lower trims – and the entire commercial fleet is does not even offer good headlights as an option: HiAce, Gran Max (TownAce), base LCV Hilux, Hino trucks, the list goes on.

No wonder the highway experience in China is a pleasure whereas the on-road experience in Japan is degrading!
