I remember watching City’s launch event and in the end having around 75% dislikes on YouTube before it got hidden from the public.

She is Sridevis’s daughter, Like a lot of Rich girls across the world of this generation, their idol and inspiration in Kylie Jenner/Kardashian, they watch Kardashian TV shows and want to emulate them.

Another feature of such rich demographic is they only speak English and have to be coached in Hindi for their Bollywood launch, this is why their dialogue delivery in the movies is terrible, but what can you do? most of the roles directly go to such nepotism products as the movie folks call themselves not an industry but a “Family” like some mafia !!

i think its not just about concept, its about execution too. the Honda ad is poorly executed irrespective of concept. not talking about models or actresses but Indian ads & commercials are just another level of professionalism & production. let’s accept the fact

Saw both videos.
The Pakistani girl is definitely shown to be dumb & childish, the video has lots of stereotypes and fantasies. The guy brings a car for her and shows it around. Well purchase of a car is family decision in Pakistan and the whole family (sometimes the whole 4 generations of extended family) are scraping money to buy the car, and then the wait and frustration of the never-ending delivery delay begins, so it does seem out of touch with reality that the woman in the house is suddenly shown a new car in the garage to surprise her.

The girl then acts dumb like she doesn’t know what DRLs are. It is somewhat a true depiction of our society – women live cushy lives because all the technical muscle-work are done using the man’s brains and women just enjoy the fruits of the labor. But suddenly she shows that she already knows what Daytime Running Lights are. So – another stereotypical thing : she’s keeping herself back because of the oppressive patriarchy or just trying to appear dumb so as not to hurt the male ego – or being a knowall herself, she’ll try to appear she knows nothing to get out of any heavy-lift duty, which is called ghunnapan locally.

Then the man in the game needs to convince her that he’s brought the best thing for her by displaying all the features like a salesman. Wow so materialistic. As if she won’t be happy by anything he brought and need some “salient features”.

Overall there is much more to an ad than just the acting of the actors. Actors can only perform the script they have been given, so it gives an indication that the whole ecosystem behind them is mentally bankrupt. This is also indicative of the low marketing budget set aside by companies.

OTOH the Indian model is independently describing the features to the audience without ado and telling the audience why she loves this car. The Pakistani woman is being pandered and pampered by things being brought to her while she plays dumb on the surface meanwhile deep down knowing it all. It is stereotypical but then it is what’s happening in our society. This kind of ad will appeal to many Pakistani women as this is what they appear to want.
