MG has recorded its highest-ever monthly sales in India in March 2021 with sales of 5,528 units. This is 264.16% more than 1,518 units sold in March 2020.
MG’s product portfolio in India currently includes the MG Hector (5-seater, Hector Plus 6-seater and Hector Plus 7-seater), MG ZS EV and MG Gloster. According to Sales Director of MG Motor India Rakesh Sidana:
“The highest monthly sales achieved in March 2021 are very encouraging with momentum continuing for our product lines. While the Hector received 6,000+ bookings during the month, the Gloster has continued its advance in the premium SUV segment. MG ZS EV’s increased traction is also being witnessed across various quarters, including luxury buyers looking for a personal driving experience.”
According to MG India, the Hector and ZS EV recorded their highest-ever monthly sales in March 2021. Furthermore, most of the MG vehicles now have a waiting period of up to 2-3 months.
However, Sidana indicated that MG will likely see a disruption in the supply chain due to shortage of semiconductor chips globally as well as the new wave of coronavirus. The company may observe a few NPDs (no production days) in April 2021 as a preventive measure.
MG stepped in India in 2017 with manufacturing & sales commencing from 2019. In a short span of time, MG is doing fairly well in the highly competitive Indian market with reasonably priced cars in good quality & rich list of features & equipment.
