You may be right. The BYD might be a copy of the 2017 Toyota Yaris prototype design. However this is a case where the copy is much better in looks than the original.

On the other hand we are talking about BYD potentially coping the display showpiece prototype. We all know by the time this new Yaris hits the showroom floors as a production model, there would be a lot of changes to the design to make it more cost effective to make. so we have to wait and see what the Yaris will actually end up looking like.

In the mean time, if BYD copied the prototype, they actually improved it. Especially the front grill in my opinion.

However, the irony is not lost on me. I get it. If this was copied by BYD then shame on them. They have enough experience and design experience to not have to do such shenanigans anymore.

Tough luck buddy! Looking at IMC’s past and current tactics and today’s current market “trend”, you would be extremely lucky to get a Toyota (aka a branded product) at a reasonable price. Expect something stupid like a price above 3.5 million. 😄

Toyota’s concept was revealed in 2017, BYD Destroyer came at the end of 2021.
So who influenced who? 🙂

Hahaha, I was just thinking of this! I was like “Wait, I’ve seen this design somewhere, it’s too similar…” and BAM! The rear and even the front is too similar to the Destroyer! Toyota once again taking inspiration from BYD, this time perhaps unintentionally 😛🤪
