Instead of fighting this through innovation and technology and pricing, they know they are cooked. They cant do any of those things. So they turn to such underhanded and desperate measures.

The Lexus ES is the luxury version of Toyota Camry.
Toyota has been selling the Lexus ES-series since 1989, seemingly the masses haven’t been confused by a natural competitor – Japanese luxury brand vs German luxury brand; but now they’ll be confused by a Chinese EV maker adopting a similar name!?

It means that all this time, Lexus wasn’t a tangible threat. But now, Nio is. Go figure.
