Official 2020 Toyota Yaris Brochure is Out

The official brochure of upcoming 2020 Toyota Yaris subcompact sedan has made it to the internet ahead of its debut. The vehicle is scheduled to be launched on the 27th of March however the event may get postponed due to coronavirus fears. Better still, the Toyota Yaris will officially go on sale from April 2020.

Scarce details related to the car were already available on the internet, now however as we have the official brochure let us take you through and see what the new Yaris sedan has to offer for our market.

Dimensions

The Yaris being a subcompact sedan is smaller than the Corolla. Measuring 4,425mm long, 1,730mm wide and 1,475mm in height, the Yaris is 195mm (7.67 inch) shorter in length, 45mm (1.77 inch) shorter in terms of width while standing exactly as tall as the Corolla. The Trims

The Yaris will be available in 6 trims overall. The base GLi, the Ativ and the range topping Ativ X, each available in manual as well as CVT gearbox options.

Exterior

In terms of exterior, the Yaris gets 4-beam halogen headlamps, LED DRLs, fog lamps, matching side mirrors with integrated turn signals, 15” alloy wheels, chrome embellishments, LED rear combination lamps and rear reflex reflectors. All these features are present in top-spec variant whereas lower trims will miss out most of these features.

Interior

Just like the 11th gen Corolla, the Yaris gets a beige/ black dual color combination interior, however the Ativ variants gets additional chrome accents to make it more appealing. The AtivX variants gets 6.8” capacitive infotainment system with Advanced Bluetooth, MirrorLink, MP3, USB & AUX support. The rest of the variants get standard LCD touchscreen unit with Bluetooth, MP3 USB & AUX connectivity.

There is a 4.2” multi-information display which gives comprehensive fuel economy, drive and vehicle information data present in AtivX, the regular variants get standard information display. Other features include a multi-function steering wheel, automatic climate control, 6-speakers which are offered with the Ativ variants. Besides, there are numerous utility storage spaces & consoles which are standard across all variants.

Convenience

For convenience, the Yaris will come equipped with keyless & smart entry system with engine push start/ stop button. These features are restricted to the Ativ X variants only. Furthermore a smart button is also located at the rear trunk.

Safety

In terms of safety, all Yaris variants will come equipped with driver & passenger airbags, ABS (anti-lock braking system), HSA (hill start assist), VSC with TCS (vehicle stability control with traction control system), front 3-point ELR seatbelts with pretensioners and force limiters, rear 3-point ELR seatbelts, ISOFIX child seat anchorage and engine immobilizer as standard.

Engines & Transmission

The two engine options include a 1.3 liter (1329cc) 1NR-FE unit that produces 98hp and 123Nm, and a 1.5 liter (1496cc) 2NR-FE engine that punches out 106hp of power and 140Nm of torque. The engines are paired either to a 5-speed manual or 7-speed CVT gearbox.

Suspension & Wheels

Yaris gets front MacPherson struts and rear torsion beam suspension setup. Power that is transmitted to front wheels is tamed with an Electric Power Steering (EPS). All Yaris variants get 15” wheels which are alloys in case of Ativ & Ativ X whereas GLi gets steel wheels. Tires are 185/60 R15 in each case.

Colors and Customization

The Yaris if offered with 10 exterior color options which include somber as well as vibrant shades targeted towards younger buyers. Plus the company is also offering various accessories that will help stand out from the lot in case you don’t want to drive a regular looking car.

Expected Prices

Official prices are yet to be announced however the speculated prices are as under:

  • 1.3L GLi MT – 23.9 lac to 24.5 lac
  • 1.3L GLi CVT – 25.4 to 25.9 lac
  • 1.3L Ativ MT – 24.9 lac to 25.5 lac
  • 1.3L Ativ CVT – 26.5 lac to 26.9 lac
  • 1.5L Ativ X MT – 26.9 lac to 27.5 lac
  • 1.5L Ativ X CVT – 28.5 lac to 29.1 lac

From the looks of it the Yaris stacks well against the 5th gen Honda City which has been around for more than a decade and offers way less than what new Toyota Yaris has to offer. The company is yet to disclose pricing and warranty details which are expected to be available in coming days.
