First unveiled in July, Geely’s new electric pickup truck called RD6 which is placed under its new Radar brand has started to roll off the assembly lines at Zibo Smart Factory located in Shandong Province. The first batch of Radar R6 will be delivered to customers in the fourth quarter of this year.
The Radar RD6 EV pickup truck will be available in 3 models offering 350km, 550km and 600km driving range on the CLTC cycle. Moreover R6 also has 120kW DC fast charging capability allowing it to get 120km range in just 15 minutes. With an electric motor rated at 271-horsepower, the RD6 can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just under 6 seconds.
Geely has positioned the new Radar RD6 as a mid-size electric pickup truck. The RD6 has a one-piece body and is designed for both daily city trips and camping. The car has a relatively rigid front end design. It uses a closed-type radiator grille, pass-through LED daytime running lights and massive air intakes along the edges of the bumper. According to the manufacturer, the drag coefficient is 0.326.
In terms of dimensions, the RD6 measures 5,260mm long, 1,900mm wide and stands 1,830mm tall with a wheelbase of 3,120 mm. The cargo compartment measures 1,525/1,450/540 mm with luggage volume of 1,200 liters.
The interior of the Radar RD6 combines the luxury and sophistication of a passenger car. Much of the interior is covered in soft materials. In addition, there are chrome decorative details and 72-color ambient lighting. A 12.3-inch “floating” touchscreen multimedia system is installed above the center console. In front of the driver is a three-spoke flat bottomed multi-function steering wheel, behind which lies a 9.0-inch digital instrument cluster. The RD6 is also equipped with a 51-inch panoramic sunroof.
There is also a relatively spacious “frunk” or a front trunk to carry certain goods there since there is no combustion engine in the bonnet, the space is maximized for an additional cargo area. As a lifestyle pickup, the RD6 also boasts features like built-in plugs in the side of the rear cab which will feature a 6kW discharge panel and will have different discharge modes such as static discharge, mobile power, vehicle to vehicle, 220V at 10 amps and 220V at 16 amps.
Price of RD6 will be around 180,000 yuan ($25,240 or PKR 57.14 lac). Pre-sales have already started in China and local customers can get it reserved for 199 yuan or PKR 6,330 only.
