The production version of Mengshi M-Terrain electric SUV has been revealed in its all glory in China. Positioned under the premium electric off-road brand called M Hero by Dongfeng, the M-Terrain alongside M-Terrain S were first displayed as near-production concepts in August 2022.
Mengshi M-Terrain remains true to the concept, by having a front end that is dominated by the menacing bumper, a crafted black grille, and sharp LED headlights that incorporate DRLs. There is a skid plate and bronze-colored accents around the fog lights and various indentations on the bonnet to complete the frontal look.
The rugged appearance continues at the side having doors with huge hinges, side steps, sharp creases, D-pillar creating a floating roof look, and silver & black wheels. The rear features a rectangular spare wheel cover, an intriguing set of LED taillights, and a sharp bumper. The vertically placed handle suggests the rear hatch opens sideways instead of having hinges on top.
Dongfeng is yet to share interior images and technical details of the M-Terrain SUV however, according to Chinese media it will comprise of EV and EREV versions. The first one features a power output of 800 kW (1,070 hp), a 140-kWh battery, and a 500-km drive range with 0-100km/h acceleration of around 4.2 seconds. The EREV version will have 600 kW (816 hp) of power and a 65.88-kWh battery good for 800 km of range (with range extender on).
According to reports, the M-Terrain will have air suspensions that can lift the vehicle to 150mm and achieve a higher water-wading ability. The M-Terrain SUV will also feature an L3 autonomous driving assistance system that will support adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, and many others. The vehicle will also feature support for reverse charging, valet parking, crab mode, and other technologies.
