That is true, 150,000 kms is a very convincing point, most of us try and sell our cars after this much time and it is in this period a car might even require an engine overhaul or body work. So the fact that a warranty is being offered on every unit sold, is proving the sort of confidence the company is having on their product. I mean they wouldn’t be doing it if the car could not survive this long but then again, it is Pakistan and cheat can arise from unprecedented quarters. May we stay safe from its shar and hope that Indus management is going to reduce price of Base version Yaris at least by 150K to 200K and facilitate us in our decision.

I agree with you on categorization of middle class and preferences of the group regarding durability. Honesty these are strange times for people who want to play safe. Its like either throw every saving you have and buy an established brand or buy unproven risky deal. On the positive side this one is coming with 150K KM or 5 years warranty which is good. At least that’s how they expect their product to take some beating.

Pakistani middle class car buyers are divided in two classes one wants durable car that can run for ten to twelve years without risking outflow of money from their pocket. I am from this class and I am not going to buy this car unless users are able to confirm about frequency of maintenance required for engine to run on low fuel quality, bad infrastructure, poorly trained mechanics and car parts stealers. In contrast, other class want a feature rich car, to them durability or low maintenance cost coming in with these features is not a factor and so they are prepared to pay for stolen cameras and screens and side view mirrors and influence of Pakistani fuel on these newer engines.
I agree that Yaris might have these issues but it is a Toyota and the badge means something to old school psychology I think that Saga may sell but major portion of middle class buyer shall be switching after looking at the shape of car in seven to ten years time. Is not that happened to F.A.W. V2 or is in fact happening to KIA Picanto. I am not going to speak about Sportage as the class buying that vehicle is different from class buying a car under 2.5million PKR.
