By: Import from Afg instead of India? https://carspiritpk.com/should-we-begin-importing-second-hand-cars-from-india/#comment-13835 Tue, 25 Apr 2023 06:48:35 +0000 https://carspiritpk.com/?p=67888#comment-13835 The NCP areas (Swat, GB, AJ&K), heavily rely on imports from Afghanistan. Now obviously there are no automobile factories in Afghanistan, so the actual source is elsewhere.
PAMA, PAAPAM or others have never claimed that the hordes of NCP vehicles in these areas tend to hurt Pakistan’s economy or the local industry which claims to provide jobs to 500,000 people. Conversely hese NCP areas get a preferential treatment in army recruitment, university admissions, government jobs and subsidized wheat despite being an NCP-zone and overall tax-free zone.

Going by the same formula, as an alternate proposal of getting 2nd hand orphaned IDM vehicles, if the whole of Pakistan is temporarily/permanently declared as NCP zone, won’t it be a win-win situation so that everyone gets cheap modern fully-loaded vehicles and cherry on the topping would be government jobs, military jobs, university admissions and subsidized wheat as well as totally tax-free: no income tax, no sales tax, no tax on utilities etc. etc.

Importers can get the cars at very low prices and hopefully sell at a very low price.

(Or they can go down the usual path of getting the cars cheap and then selling them at the high prices prevalent here in the Pakistani market. That would be unfortunate but quite possible. 🤣🤦‍♂️)
