When it comes to affordable products, Chinese automaker Changan has an impressive and wide range of models. One such vehicle in their portfolio is the Oushang X70A SUV, the base version of which comes even cheaper than most smaller hatchbacks in Chinese market.

It is priced from just 49,900 yuan (PKR 10.3 lac) and goes as high as 72,900 yuan (PKR 15.09 lac) for the top-spec variant. Slotted below the CX70, The Oushang X70A was launched in June 2018 and is the newest product in their lineup.
Chinese consumers are increasingly becoming inclined to models that have the appearance of SUV and can do the job of carrying good amount of cargo when needed. The X70A is specifically targeted towards these set of buyers mainly in second and third tier Chinese cities.

Positioned as a compact SUV, the X70A measures 4,620 /1,770/1,820 mm, with a wheelbase of 2,750 mm. For the sake of comparison the Honda BR-V measures 4,455/1,735/1,650 mm and has a wheelbase of 2,660 mm.
The design boasts clean straight lines outlining a squarish and rugged appearance. The interior isn’t that outlandish but is impressive, it features a multi-function steering wheel, and a 10.1-inch display on the center console, integrating tire pressure monitoring system, Baidu CarLife and GPS navigation.
The X70A offers tremendous space inside, particularly the headroom due to its tall design and its height almost 200mm more than that of Honda BR-V. With a 2+2+3 seating configuration, access to the third row seats is quite convenient. The third row seats can also be folded down to hugely expand the loading space.
With a front-engine rear-wheel-drive layout, the Oushang X70A is powered by a 1.5 liter engine with max power of 107hp and peak torque of 145Nm, though the transmission choice is only a 5-speed manual.

Changan in Pakistan have indicated to launch the CX70T SUV towards the end of this year. The automaker has already announced Pakistan as its production base for RHD vehicles. Since Changan has shifted its focus on developing new energy vehicles in China, the production of its conventional gasoline vehicles will be relocated to Pakistan. Perhaps somewhere down the line we might well be able to see the likes of Oushang X70A in our country too.
