Appling JIT in the management of your IT resources is not being efficient; its being cheap!!! In such situations you usually need immediate response before the situation spirals into such damaging issues for your company. As usual, Toyota seems hell bent on learning the hard way.

What was uncle Ikio’s way of solving this issue, go out and drift his one single hydrogen burning Yaris? 🤦‍♂️

The future is IT, yet companies do not want to spend on IT.

It is a general trend in Pakistan too. In random Pakistani gatherings you can find old uncles telling youngsters, as if *with conviction giving out a random secret very knowingly* that “the future is IT” yet in their own household the IT budget is abysmal compared to the budget spent on show-off things like clothes, expensive dinners and lavish parties.

You ask companies what is your budget for hardware, software and comms tech? They have no answer.

Large companies with billions of PKR annual turnover are spending less than 10 USD/month on pathetic 4 Mbps-10Mbps internet connections. They artificially restrict the resource then come up with stupid policies like not allowing people to use mobile phones or internet in the company hostel. Sometimes people leave, too. I have companies because of this reason, and I know other people have too. If I’m stuck in the company hostel for over a month, I may not use internet during the duty timing as per policy but during off time in my own room, in this modern era, availability internet connection is my basic demand. Fun fact is that for USD 40/month, companies can get a very good 250Mbps or 300Mbps connection.

It is common to see people working in offices with broken keyboards, mouse/touchpad doesn’t work, cracked screens, randomly hanging OS and edxpired-battery laptops which don’t retain the work you did once a voltage fluctuation happens. Because this is the value the company places on their work.

New tech companies are rapidly gaining market share in the mobility sector. At the same time conventional automobile companies are struggling to upgrade a hard disk/SSD, such a basic tech task a primary school student can do. Seriously never thought things would be so out of control.
