As this comment in the pervious article points out, sales might be down but profits are maintained. We have witnessed that from the multiple reports of IMC, Honda and Suzuki making good profits in 2023.

As far as reality goes:

https://profit.pakistantoday.com.pk/2023/11/28/pakistani-rupee-may-hit-record-low-of-350-usd-by-2024-report/

Things in 2024 will not improve. Even tougher times are coming. And Jamali’s arbitrary numbers of “350,000 Units annual production in the next two years and 500,000 units annually by 2030” are laughable at the moment. His whole premise is based on local sales.

However:

  1. Who will afford to buy the 350,000 units annually?
  2. Will there be a viable auto sector by 2030 and who will afford to buy the 500,000 units by then?

The numbers Jamali is gaslighting the country with are for the benefit of the shareholders. Who it seems are still so gullible that they still believe the things coming out of Jamali’s mouth and are ignoring reality.

The only way Jamali’s numbers will work is if within the next two years at least, Pakistan can gear up its exports. Which we know will never happen under our crop of inept, visionless and self-serving business leaders. The most we can be happy with is carpet exports by our local auto assemblers.
